“I thought of you when I was wakened

By a wind that made me glad and afraid
Of the rushing, pouring sound of the sea
That the great trees made.

One thought in my mind went over and over

While the darkness shook and the leaves were thinned—
I thought it was you who had come to find me,

You were the wind.”

Martin has had terrible weather this September, with days of rain and cold. There’s already been snow reported in the Tatras region. It was only 3º C when I left for my first class this morning. (And 1º when Iťa left at dawn.) It seemed like summer was over.
Then, this afternoon, the sky went blue and the sun was bright. Everyone shed their jackets, and these two beautiful butterflies visited the school’s garden. The one with the blue spots is called the European Peacock (Aglais io [formerly Inachis io] for those who are more scientifically inclined) which is the same type of butterfly that flew into our apartment a few weeks back. The black and orange one (with white spots) is a Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta).
